The Pilates Suspension Method

The Pilates Difference is the official Instructor Trainer, Training Provider in South Africa and Africa for the Pilates Suspension Method. We offer both live in-person courses (in all locations), as well as live online courses.

What is the Pilates Suspension Method?

The Pilates Suspension Method (PSM) combines traditional and contemporary mat Pilates and equipment-based Pilates exercises and performs them on any type of suspension apparatus (i.e a TRX trainer or similar).  Each PSM exercise is Pilates rooted and is also done in many of the traditional Pilates series.  The PSM is designed to teach in a group or one-on-one setting. You do not need a Pilates certification to complete one of our courses – it is open to any fitness or mindful movement practitioners.

Pilates Suspension Method Foundation Course

The Pilates Suspension Method (PSM) Foundation Course is a 2 module workshop taught over 2 days (both virtual and live), 6 hours each day or 3 hours online each day. During this course you will learn the essential and intermediate level exercises of the Pilates Suspension Method. Each exercise will be broken down in detail and modifications will be discussed and demonstrated. Every student will be able to perform each exercise. You will also receive an eBook manual with step-by-step pictures for each exercise. This workshop welcomes all types of mindful movement and fitness instructors and enthusiasts. This course is approved for 7 PMA CECs and .6 ACE CECs.

Course Times:

Friday: 2.00pm – 5.00pm

Saturday: 1.30pm – 4.30pm

In the PSM 2.0 Course you will learn 75 INTERMEDIATE and ADVANCED level Pilates based exercises on the Suspension Trainer. Each exercise is rooted from either the Pilates mat or Pilates Equipment. During this 6-hour course every exercise will be demonstrated, different modifications will be discussed, and all students will be taken through the exercises. You will receive a printed manual (only for in person courses) and an eBook manual with step-by-step pictures of all the PSM 2.0 exercises. You are not required to take the PSM Foundation Course before the PSM 2.0, but it is highly recommended because many of the exercises are a continuation of the Foundation level series. This workshop welcomes all types of mindful movement and fitness instructors and enthusiasts. This course is approved for 6 PMA CECs and .5 ACE CECs.

  • COURSES CAN BE TAKEN IN ANY ORDER & PSM PRACTICE HOURS STARTED AFTER THE COMPLETION OF YOUR FIRST COURSE. But it is recommended to take the Foundations Course first.
